Sheffield Children's Hospital is currently undergoing a £40m development to upgrade the existing facilities and provide a new outpatient's department and a number of new wards, designed by Avanti Architects.  The new outpatients section of the project opened in November 2016 with the rest slated to open in June 2017.  As well as state of the art medical facilities, the renovations will include an innovative 'play tower', play courtyard and new car parking facilities.
