Fun and creativity drove the design, fostering wellbeing and social connection. This is more than a building, it is a catalyst for opportunity, resilience, and pride. The original design team worked collaboratively with local stakeholders through consultations and focus groups, gathering insights from youth clubs, schools, police, and community enterprises. Building on this foundation, the Principal Contractor elevated the vision with innovative, high-quality elements while maintaining strong ties with local groups.
Young people influenced the final aesthetic, selecting fixtures and finishes that embody inclusivity and shared ownership. The hub now provides safe, welcoming spaces for play work, youth programs, baby groups, care leaver support, counselling, and family sessions. It addresses documented needs in a community disproportionately affected by economic hardship and social challenges, offering non-stigmatizing, integrated services proven to improve resilience and reduce long-term public health costs.
Since opening, the hub has achieved measurable impact: over 5,000 individuals engaged in activities within six weeks, enhancing health, wellbeing, and social connection. Children participated in physical play and creative arts—activities linked to emotional regulation and cognitive development—while families accessed early-help support in line with best practice models. Co-located services, including sexual health clinics and breastfeeding support, have created a collaborative hub aligned within national ambition for multi-agency provision.
