The Sheffield Design Awards is a biennial event, with the next awards ceremony due to take place in October 2020. 

In celebration of 10 years since the inception of the awards, the Trustees would like to invite you to - 

 

Sheffield Design Awards Retrospective - 2019

6pm, Thursday 21st November 

Lower Ground Floor, Arts Tower

Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TN

The event will begin with drinks & canapes, and a showcase of previous SDA winners.

This will be followed by a unique reflection given by award winners from each of the award events - 

Ben Otter - AXIS Architecture - SDA winner 2010 with Leopold Square

Jamie Wilson & Alan Robshaw - HLM - SDA winner 2012 with the Arts Tower refurbishment

Simon Gedye - Studio Gedye - SDA winner 2014 with Sum Studios

Anya Sutton - Thread Architects - SDA winner 2016 with 81 Slinn Street

James O'Hara - client - SDA winner 2018 with Public

The evening will also host the Keith Hayman Award - The Keith Hayman Award for public art has been part of the biennial Sheffield Design Awards for a number of years. Named in memory of Keith Hayman, a keen artist and Sheffield Civic Trust (SCT) Trustee, it is presented to the artist judged to have contributed most to the enhancement of Sheffield’s public realm in the two years preceding the award. Judged as in previous years by the SCT Trustees, the award presented by Keith's family. Shortlisted artworks are -

Different Today - Tim Etchells (located on Site Gallery)

Horsetail - Paul Morrison (located on Site Gallery)

Now Then Then Now - Rob Lee (located on Howard St)

Sheffield Mural - Jo Peel (located on Howard St)

Sheffield: The city as an egg - Jack Weller (located Sheffield Hallam University)

Kelham Island Arts & Cultural Heritage Trail - various artists (Kelham Island)

Window Mural Project - various artists (Millennium Galleries)
