Join us for a tour of the 16,500m2 new University of Sheffield Social Sciences building called the Wave. Its highly sustainable design is the first University of Sheffield building to be net zero building in operation. The building forms a hub at the heart of a new mini campus for the faculty and its flowing organic shape both hints at the site's history as an old reservoir and reflects the softer nature of the Social Sciences, the student of people and their behaviour and interactions. Its design is based around collaborative learning and research blurring the lines between the departments it houses to allow academics to work together to research the many challenges facing our world today.

This has strongly been adopted and reflected in the design process for the building and the end result.
