KRYNKL

6pm - 7pm, 4th May 2017

318-328 Shalesmoor, Sheffield S3 8UL

Tour led by - Harvey Squire of Fernie Greaves

Krynkl is a flexible new leisure outlet in Kelham Island; home to a mix of exciting businesses in upcycled shipping containers. Designed by Coda Studios, the building opened to the public at the beginning of March 2017 and was designed by Coda Studios in partnership with Fernie Greaves.

"According to Cross, Krynkl takes inspiration from the Boxpark scheme in London. “I wanted to create a unique destination that would be architecturally striking, and would encourage small businesses to move in. And, crucially, to work together,” explains Cross" - https://inews.co.uk/essentials/lifestyle/food-and-drink/launched-fine-dining-restaurant-shipping-container/

We were lucky to take a tour of the building once the tenants had settled in to this unique structure.  The metal shipping containers are stacked around a concrete core that forms a corridor between the two spaces, open at the end to the air with a metal grille.  With a range of flexible spaces, a variety of different companies have taken residence in Krnykl, including a restaurant, a gym and small start-up companies.
